Care Quality Commission (CQC)
The CQC is an independent regulator of adult Health and Social Care services in England. They ensure that all care provided meets government standards of quality and safety. They put the views, experiences, health and wellbeing of people who use services at the centre of their work, and have a range of powers to take action if people are receiving poor care. It is now against the law for any dental services to be provided without holding a CQC registration.
Wensleydale Dental Practice first registered with the CQC 2010 and reapplied for registration 2012 to coincide with the change in partnership.
Mr Patrik M F Zachrisson is the registered provider and Mrs Laura A Roxby is the registered manager.

The General Dental Council (GDC)
The GDC is an organisation which regulates dentists and dental care professionals in the United Kingdom. They regulate:
– clinical dental technicians,
– dental hygienists,
– dental nurses,
– dental technicians,
– dental therapists, and
– orthodontic therapists.
The GDC keeps an up-to-date register of all dentists and dental care professionals. To join the register, all dental professionals must meet all of the standards, which is set by the GDC. You can search their register by visiting www.gdc-uk.org.
Anybody who wants to work in the UK as a dentist or dental care professional must be registered with the GDC.
The GDC also holds 13 Specialist Lists. Dentists can work in a particular branch of dentistry – such as oral surgery or orthodontics – but only those on the Specialist Lists can call themselves a ‘specialist’ in a particular area.
Here at Wensleydale Dental Practice, all of our clinical staff are registered and governed by the General Dental Council.
