The majority of people in the world naturally have some sort of overcrowding or misaligned teeth and this is through no fault of their own. Even if your teeth were straight at the age of fifteen over time they often move. If you don’t like the appearance, the function or find it difficult to brush and floss then consider getting your teeth straightend. With Invisalign, and adult orthodontics achieving the smile you always dreamed of doesn’t have to be a big deal. In fact, it barely has to impact your day-to-day life at all.
NHS guidelines are very strict about who can receive orthodontic treatment on the NHS and many people go without specialist treatment due to this. Our in-house orthodontic Specialist Mr Mark Bainbridge will assess your situation and confirm if the treatment can be provided on the NHS.
If you do not qualify for NHS treatment you can still have a brace privately. One of the options available, is Invisalign – the clear alternative to braces or should you wish to have a conventional approach to orthodontics we are pleased to offer our patients fixed (train tracks) appliances too!

Our experienced dental surgeons are happy to discuss a personal treatment plan with you upon an initial assessment.
Please be advised that the initial consultation cost is normally £50.00.
The treatment process
At your initial assessment, we will discuss your personal treatment plan with you. Usually the first appointment will consist of impressions whereupon a cast will be made of your teeth to show how your teeth are currently positioned and an x-ray to assist your specialist in planning your treatment.
At your second appointment, your chosen brackets will be bonded onto your teeth using specialist dental materials. Once the brackets have been placed a metal wire and rubber bands will be attached to the brackets to realign your teeth. In dentistry we call this treatment phase bonding.
If you suffer from overcrowding you may need one or more teeth extracting to make space for your remaining teeth to move into. If needed, this will be discussed with you at your initial assessment.
You will be required to attend appointments for your brace to be checked and tightened every six to eight weeks. Once you have had your brace in place for your specific time needed a de-bond will take place whereupon your wire, rubber bands and brackets will be removed. An impression will then be taken and a cast made to show what position your teeth have moved to. Once the cast has been made our laboratory technicians will make you a retainer to be worn.
Nowadays orthodontics have come along way and the use of clear, nearly invisible braces can usually replace the conventional fixed brackets and wires in orthodontics. Please see the Invisalign Braces section of our website for more information on Invisalign.
The cost of Invisalign is dependent on the specifics of your individual case: such as the complexity of your straightening issue and the required length of treatment. This means you will not receive an exact cost until you visit an Invisalign provider.
As a general rule, the cost is comparable to traditional fixed braces. And although only an Invisalign provider is able to fully determine your cost, prices for Invisalign treatment are generally between £1995 – £4,500. However, if only minor tooth movement is required, prices could start from £1,500.
Conventional Brackets for Children: from £2500.00
Conventional Brackets for Adults: from £3500.00
White Brackets: Base cost above, plus £50.00 per white bracket
Please note that only white brackets will be used on the front upper teeth; UR3 to UL3.
